I think they are good and they are responsive. Usually ship 2 day for no extra charge.

I have ordered a number of items (not a full on tank) from them because they do not charge sales tax. The only other mainstream shop I know that doesn't change me tax is @premiumaquatics , which is prob my main online store.

No issues with them - highly recommended.

I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about Fishtanksdirect... Will always purchase from them. Great company.

Look into different brand, lots of water to leak wverywhere

I had a great experience with Fish Tanks Direct. Their website looks dated but don't let that deter you.

I placed my order for a RS 170 on a Sunday, they called me fist thing Monday morning, to let me know about the process, drop ship, and what not.

This was back in april, right before the radions went on sale 15%. I called them and they gave me the 15% in store credit even though I had gotten them a few days earlier.

So far my experience has been great...

In terms of saving the sales tax, what I learn is that if a company (website) sells more than $500k for a particular state per year, then they have to charge sales tax. This is why I try to do most of my shopping on Aquacave, marineandreef, premium aquatics and fish tanks direct. It can make a big difference.

There are items on BRS that you cannot find anywhere else, but other than that I try to do my shopping where I can save the tax

Update on my experience.

When I bought my tank I had pre ordered the reef mat. I kept checking with them every couple of weeks and every time I kept getting the same response... "End of the month"... "Next Month"....

Last week I went to another vendor's website and they had the Reef Mat in a big banner! "Now Available" "In Stock"

So once again I reached out and asked when would mine ship... Again was told the same thing, next month. So I pointed out that other online stores have them... "Oh, we had them but they went to people who pre-order them"...

what the heck!?

I pre-ordered mine back in April and have been checking since... Apparently there was a mix up and somehow they didn't see my order....

I asked for my money back, went to the other website and bought not only the reef mat for this tank (500) but also a S-1000 with a Reef Mat 1200.... They just lost an almost 8k order....

this is an old thread, but I just ordered from them.
They have a return pump that BRS sells for $350. Have it on sale for $315.
no tax and free shipping. Pump arrived in good shape and I had no problem whatsoever. It was shipped quickly, and I had it in a few days.

We have been dealing with them and parts have been incorrect and we have to keep shipping parts back and forth. It has been such a hassle. Not going to buy from them again. So far over a month and the 300 dollar UV sterilizer is not working.

I noticed that Fishtanksdirect.com doesn't charge sales tax unless living in Florida. Being that I live in Texas, this could save me about $500+ on my reefer-s 1000 or reefer 3xl 900 purchase. I close on my house April 5th then will take final measurements before purchasing.

My question is, does anyone have experiences with purchasing from Fishtanksdirect.com and how was it? Why don't more people purchase from them if they don't charge sales tax?
ordered from them a couple of times no issues at all.
