So I was transferring two fish (Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse & Two Spot Bristletooth Tang) from QT to DT. The plan was to put the wrasse right in, while the tang went into an acclimation box (so my PBT could get used to her.)

Well, I'm transferring the wrasse using a colander, and he jumps out and hits the floor. I scoop him up and throw him into the DT. Wife yells at me too. "Really!? He's hurt now and you put him in the 'kill tank'."

Well about 30 mins later the inhabitants of my 'kill tank' live up to their name ... chasing the wrasse all over the place. He goes up to the acclimation box and hides behind the tang inside. o_O I'm thinking to myself, "Hmm... I wonder..." So I open up the door to the acclimation box and the wrasse swims right in with the tang!

Now I just gotta decide what to do with him. He appears OK. But lately my fish seem to pick up on if a new addition is hurt or something... and they tear it apart! :(

Smart fish!

I find stories like this amazing. It never fails to amaze when we witness a fish (other animals too who arnt known for it) who seems to show some form of intelligence. So cool. And people wonder why i like fish so much.

If they have no problem I'd leave em together till releasing both to spread any aggression and maybe his tang buddy will watch out for him. Animals do amazing things n weird things happen all the time. Our cat Amy hates our Doberman but when our newer cat tries to start something with her Ivan jumps to her rescue lol. They maybe buddies for long haul in the tank.

Left them both in the acclimation box all day, and then about an hour before lights out opened the door. The wrasse went and hid, while the tang took his *** beating like a man. ;)

Things should calm down today. The PBT was already seeing this one would actually fight back. :p

Poor tang! Hope they can all get along soon :)

Update... PBT is on a rampage. Never seen her this hostile before. She's not just going after the new fish... she's going after everything! I think I'm gonna have to catch her and put her in fish jail for a couple of weeks. :p

PBT can be so nasty... Ime they make Sohal tangs look like old ladies...
