Ok so over this past weekend, I realized that the way I was trusting in my tanks salinity (apex probe) was inaccurate. It was partly my fault but then as I read on here, lots of people have issues.
Anyways..
Salinity was at about 37.5-38ppt and I never really thought much about it because most of my corals were thriving and growing like crazy. I dont have much in the tank yet other than a Zoa garden and some random others (GSP, Duncan and toadstool). The GSP was growing visibly by the day. About half of my zoas were open and doing well, the other half closed up. My assumption was the high salinity.
Over the course of 3 days, I got my salinity down to 35ppt and figured I’d need to give some time for everything to acclimate to the new parameters. But a week has gone by and my GSP is doing horribly. Thankfull it’s really only the GSP but it’s half open in most places and others, not at all.
Does such a swing like this take longer for the coral to re-acclimate?
