like over that crack or a hole new peice of acrylic? i dont care how sloppy it is it will be a frag tank and that side will be covered

I would weld both sides of it. That should seal it up fine. If you are skeptical cut that out and weld another square into it.

Where can i buy this weldon4 at HD?

Also thanks for all the help

Do you know of any local acrylic shops? You may have to buy it online. I get mine at Luster Craft Plastics which is a place that specializes in acrylic downtown here.

You're definitely welcome :)

Personally I would not try to fix that tank. What size is the tank? The acrylic looks really thin for it to be rimless. Acrylic tanks are much different than glass tanks. A rimless tank with such thin acrylic will bow.

To me unless it was also free, I would not touch that tank. Think about the cost to have that tank made brand new. It wouldn't be that much money. Is it really worth saving a few bucks after its all said and done. If you were to repair it that would be one ugly tank.

that whole side panel needs to be replaced before i would even think about putting water in there....your only other option is laminating the inside of the panel which will be ugly...
....sorry..:(

question to those who know better. If the original poster wasn't concerned with the look of the aquarium would it be ok to sandwich two pieces of acrylic squares larger than the crack on either side of the tank with weldon used to make it hold?

Like i said it would be a frag tank and that side would be butted on a wall so it wouldn't matter

not really imo....
if looks are no concern i would drill a small hole like 1/8" in the end of each crack to stop them from spreading and then get another piece of 1/2" thick acrylic the whole size of the side and laminate it from the inside with weld on 40/42....
also you could use black acrylic so it is not visiable...;)

if your buying it from advanced acrylics just ask them to repair for you with spare acrylic pieces. Im sure they have plenty just laying around or that would go into the trash.
