Flagtail Tilefish

So I usually don't pick up fish unless i've done my research but, I did against my better Judgement.

anyways, now that i have had it for a few days I'm kind of lost cause I can not find much info on it in the home aquarium.

The fish is a Flagtail Tilefish, and ive had him for 4 days now. when i saw him at my LFS he was active and swimming and eating, brought him home, acclimated him and added him to the tank. He swam around a bit and then basically disappeared, noticed a small sand storm and where it was coming from, but since then I have not seen him. I'm not too worried about that cause I see that he is alive cause the sand hole he dug changes.

I guess I'm just looking for more info on them and to see if anyone else has kept Flagtail Tile fish. the picture is a generic web found pic, but he looks exactly the same

They get big. They use burrows and dartholes. Hiding in the beginning is not unusual. They get bolder as they associate you with food.

they hide a lot. make sure it’s eating! i believe it need to be around very peaceful fish.

They do fine in community tanks. They get bigger than their Hoplolitilus coisins.

How big is big? Hes probably 3 to 4" long now.

He hasn't come out when I'm around so he is missing feedings. I tried spot feeding but didnt see him eat.

How long before I should go digging for him or start worrying?

He will double in size.

So moved some rock around and he is still kicking. Got him to eat while he was out too.
