Flame angel harassing melenarus wrasse.

So have search on here and just wanted some more feedback. Orginally had a melenarus wrasse and a flame angel in my tank. Everything seems to be going great for about a week then noticed the flame angel start circling the wrasse and fighting some. The wrasse took off under the sand and I have not seen him in four days. Should I be concerned?

I have also notices the flame angel chasing my small Flame hawkfish some too. Might be time for the flame angel to go.

How big is your tank and what other fish do you have?

Do you have a sump or refugium? If so, you could try a 'time out' and put the Flame Angel in there for a month.

BTW, I think the odds are, if the Angel is gone soon, the wrasse will come out of the sand.

my melanurus wrasse hid for a few days when first joined the tank. No worries there. You probably have a bully issue on your hands though.

This is why I’m so scared to add anything in my tank even though I want to. Everyone gets along like buds. I don’t want one newcomer throwing the balance out of whack. Hope you get it sorted!

88 gal/redsea xl425. Have two clowns, a small flame hawkfish, the wrasse and flame angel. Have a sump and just started a refuge this past week.

I’m really wanting a potters angel or a goldflake later down the road, so flame may be going back to the LFS lol.

I wondered about your tank size, that is fine, my guess is just a rogue fish, it will be top fish in your tank so all new additions will probably get some.
Mine is number three in the pecking order and rarely kicks off at anything new.

Yeah, I’ve read on here that it is hit or miss with the flame angels. Some say they are great, and some say they are terrors. Haha
