So my tanks been running great no issues at all, finally taking the plunge to fill it with coral, but my flame angel all the sudden has 2 big gashes/wounds I noticed yesterday, all the fish have been together and happy for weeks but the only thing I can think of is my tang beating him up(looks similar to what I've seen tangs scalpels do) recently.
here's a pic and my list of fish
75g:
kole tang
2onyx clowns
orange tail damsel
flame angel
mandarin
snowflake eel
dwarf lion

Yikes that looks like a really bad infection spreading or severe injury. If it's the prior, it's probably gram negative and there's not really much you can do.

Kanaplex, furan 2, and metroplex combination in a qt after an acriflavin bath would be a good start.

If an injury, you may still want to source those products because there's a good chance of infection.

Also, that does not look like tang damage to me, especially from a bristletooth.

could an infection pick up so quickly? I have metro but I'll need to pick up those others and the struggle to get this guy out of my tank and into the qt won't put him over the edge right? he's still Constantly picking and eating swimming in the open.. tomorrow I'll try and get him out

A gram negative infection can take down a fish in as little as 24-48hrs. I agree that this looks to be a bacterial infection. @4FordFamily gave the best course of treatment for success.

Fish are prey animals, it's their instinct to not show any weakness and to act as normal as possible, otherwise they get eaten.

Great advice given already. That definitely looks like a nasty infection. I've had gram negative infections show signs at 10am and ended up with a dead fish (despite treatment) within 8 hours. Sometimes they can move so quickly there's not much you can do for it. It's always best to try anyway though! :) Best of luck

ok just got him from dt into qt and dosed metro hope I didn't push him over the edge he's breathing heavy and as for hexamita maybe but in qt he did then it stopped from treatment last time i saw was brown and normal in dt

Didn't know the terms I should've asked I knew this was serious but not this bad should I cut my qt power head and just let the hob have low flow?

Agree. If anything, point the powerhead to be top to break the surface a bit for extra oxygen saturation. The fish will have to work less for oxygen. Centropyge, flame especially, have high oxygen requirements and are often intolerant of even moderately low oxygen levels.
Flow is crucial for oxygen, especially when treating with multiple meds.

Yeah this is pretty bad I went to bed late and woke up early to it looking a good bit worse :/ should I try to put the meds into food I have focus but would need to pick up kana plex. He's still swimming the flow is fine but for sure looks weakened and doesn't want to show it. But for o2 there's plenty of surface agitation

Acriflavine is best used as a 90 minute bath treatment, followed up by antibiotics dosed into a QT.

I'm exhausted sorry I completely forgot about the bath. Should I wc to remove it? I have plenty of mixed water, so a bucket with saltwater, heater, powerhead for 90mins?

You can do a large WC/run carbon for a few hours to remove it before adding antibiotics.

For next time, I would use a 5 gal bucket with saltwater, heater, air stone cranked all the way up for 90mins. A powerhead will blow the fish around too much in that small a space.
