Hi all,

I got a Flame Angel a week ago that seems to be doing great in all respects, but I have not seen it actually take food. When I feed the tank it swims excitedly like the other fish, but I don't see actual eating take place. Most of the time it grazes/picks at my live rock, but there is no visible algae on it. I tend to feed a lot and I can see the it has ample opportunity to eat without other fish out-competing the flame angel for the food.

I mix up a variety of foods over the course of a few days: Nori, Mysis shrimp, plankton, Cyclops, Brine Shrimp and some zooplankton and phytoplankton for my corals.

Just keep offering variety, frequently. I've had some success getting picky dwarfs to eat using live brine. That it is grazing the rocks is a good sign.

It probably doesn't know that what you feed the fish is food.
It's coming from the ocean and they don't have a guy that feeds fish once a day but they will craze the rocks in stead.
If you had it in QT for a few weeks you could teach it to eat the food you give your fish in the DT.
With other words just give it some time and it will start eating soon.

I had luck getting them to eat flake food then it transitioned to pe mysis
Bingo!!! He wolfed down some flaked food that I normally feed my freshwater tetras. I never thought of trying it with marine fish. Thanks!
