Howdy,

Can someone help identify what's wrong with my flame Angel ? He's been in the tank a little over a month now.

That is an infection of the eye. It may resolve on its own but more likely it will spread to the other. Does with the same thing for ick and soak food in garlic extract. I see some coral in your tank the antibiotics may endanger those.

Meant to say dose with same thing.....

I had the same problem. I purchased a flame angel about a month ago. It acclimated to my tankand everthing seemed fine. Suddenly it had this bulging, cloudy eye. I was afraid the tang had cut it. About a week later it spread to the other eye. Both eyes cleared up the following week. I did not try any treatments because I could not carch the fish. No other fish got the problem.

Maybe its a problem specfic to flame angels, a particular breeder or a distributor.

I had it with one of my blue reef chromis. I mean the eye was out of its socket and triple the size. Not exaggerating. i read that its serious when it happens in mirror, meaning same on the other side. Just kept feeding it food soaked in selcone, he took care of the infection himself over 1 week.

When initially it is just one eye, it's usually the result of injury. Can add directly to the tank 1 tablespoon of plain USP epsom salt per 5 gallon of tank water. Can redose the following day if needed. It can help with the swelling while the fish's immune system does its work.

I had same issue with a coral beauty and prepared some medicated food with Kanaplex and focus, both mixed with flakes and garlic.
Fish eat it like crazy and swollen went away in 2 or 3 days.
