Flame angel.

So today after 1 1/2 years my flame angel Maui has developed the taste for coral or I have trained him it is a feeding bowl. I feed my acan mysis shrimp and he grows like crazy and have always done it. My flame angel recently learned of this and steals some of the mysis which was no big deal. But now he is nipping at the acan mouths hoping for food and making them retract. I know they will die if I don't take him out of the tank. However I just wanted to share my experience with one of my favorite fish.

sorry to hear of this. is he only nipping when you feed or always?

I love all the pygmy Angel's. I've probably owned each one at different times over the years, they are beautiful and I've always loved the personality. I just love polyp extension more

Its turned to always now. I noticed for the past 3 days the acans have been retracted and haven't fed them in 3 days now. Thebfish will dip down every few minutes and take a nip. The only thing I will try before getting rid of him is feeding maybe a little more twice a day. He has been more active since I added my wrasse. Maybe he worked up an appetite.

Me 2, it's going to be a hard fish to get rid of for sure

I feed my pygmy 4 times a day.
I think keeping them well fed is the key.

He never took a liking to alage. I could always try again.

I feed mysis, brine sometimes, larrys, and angel frozen cubes that have algae. The pygmy loves the angel cubes!

Sorry to hear I just took my flame out about a month ago. After I did my tank has never looked better. Corals with polyp extensions look way better. But sucks was wife's fav fish. She so mad where she came home and didn't see it

Yeah I'm upset myself but I just tell my self I can always try again in the future

It ok I like how my tank looks with out the flame angel. There are plenty of other colorful fish you can keep without your corals being at their full potential.
