I have always wanted a Flame Angelfish but have not do that as I always goes with corals. However, I think I am ready to risk it and go for it on my 60gal Reef Tank. I´ve heard is a hit or miss with them when nipping at corals. I currently have zoas, mushrooms, hammers and some leptastrea and cyphastrea.

Any advice for those who has this fish in a reef tank? I am currently feeding pellets 3 times per day. Thanks.

My experience has been that dwarf angels are indeed hit or miss, but that even when one seems to be a model citizen, it can change its mind one day, seemingly out of the blue.

You may find that it loves one particular kind of coral but leaves everything else alone. If this is the case, it's up to you to decide how to proceed. My most recent attempt lasted about 9 months. The fish decided it LOVED sarcophyton...even though the interwebs said that sarcophyton are last on the menu. I tolerated it abusing my sarcophyton for a month or two, and I was resigned to simply having no sarcophyton in the tank...Eventually it moved to my candy cane. I decided it had to go.

I guess my advice is "be prepared to catch it and have a plan for how you will do that if /when you need to."

Most if not all will pick at corals.
My advice is if it's in a large tank, it'll still pick but won't do damage. I currently have one in a 180g mixed reef and I see him pick at everything but not enough to kill.

Zoas are likely the only risky thing. My flames have left all corals alone, but maybe i've been lucky.

If it's a 60 gallon cube, the angel might outgrow it eventually.

If you don't care if it nips your corals go for it if u are going to rehome it if it does nip at your corals don't bother

If you have a big enough tank in my opinion it would just be part of a thriving, natural ecosystem even if he did nip a little here and there...btw, they're one of my all time favorite fish!

You get a good one or a not so good one. What I can say is I have one in each tank and both are model citizens - Bother nothing
