Flame Angelfish Sexual Dimorphism

I recently added a healthy Flame Angelfish. Based on the descriptions in the book, Angelfishes of the World, I believe mine to be a female. Though, it is hard to say for sure. My question is, if it is indeed female, will she eventually become male being the only Flame Angel in the tank?

Do you have a photo of her? Also as she is the only female in the tank she may not feel the need to transition. However this could go both ways and she may transition as she feels she has no need to remain female.

Maybe you should inquire how it identifies?

The coloration and the number of stripes differences are not 100%. Very dependent of where the fish come from. On the whole, males are darker and more stripes, but there are male with less dark color and less stripes than females elsewhere in the ocean.
The shape of the dorsal and anal fins is 100% accurate. Still pictures are definitely the way to go to sex these fish. One word of caution, when the female Flame angel does not fully extend her fins, these fins can appear pointed.

I never keep flame angel as a single, so I do not know the answer to your question.
