I've always liked Hawkfish and have wanted one since I started this hobby in 99. I have never owned one and wanted to see who does have them and if they are compatible with pistol/goby combos.

they are really cool fish with great personalities, but will try to eat anything that will remotely fit in their mouths. I had one go after a small maroon clown and ended up in its death. it was at that point that I took a hook line and some shrimp and fished his butt outa my tank.

They are considered Lunch for a Hawkfish as soon as it can fit them in it's mouth or sooner! Good fish with mates that are bigger than it will get then it can't eat them.

you could try a falco hawkfish its a dwarf hawk I have one & love it just as funny as the flame hawk I got a tiny orchid dottyback maybe 1" & it never bothered it
I have lots of small snails, blue leg hermits etc & it doesn't bother them

A Falco is a good possibility but they are more rare at the LFS. I'd probably have to order it online and I'm still not sure about online orders yet :)

I got mine from Dr foster & Smith they are really good to order from very helpful if you have a problem & if something doesn't make it they refund without question
