Flame Hawk Pair

How'd you get on with this.
Did you end up getting the 2nd flame hawk?

Love these fish, so much personality.
Definitely my girlfriend's & her mum's favourite fish.

At only 75g-ish I think my tank might be a little small for this ?
The flamehawk I have in the tank now has only been in there just over a week now.

Hi,
I got a second flame hawk which was slightly smaller. The one already in my tank chased it a lot for the first 1-2 days. A few months later and they’re inseparable. Most times I walk past the tank they are both sitting on the same rock looking at me. They don’t fight at all and get along better than even my clownfish pair which is 18 months old. In my opinion, I think a 75 is definitely big enough and if you want to buy one, preferably buy one smaller. Flame Hawks are hermaphrodites so the one I had in my tank I presume changed from female to male as it has grown exponentially in size in a very very quick period so perhaps buying a larger one than the one you have might work just as well but I haven’t tried that so it’s only a presumption.

Awesome, thanks for the update and glad to hear yours is going great.
The one I have now is fairly small, only about 2inches I think. Might have a look around and see what I can find, possibly even with some unique look compared to the other so we can tell them apart !

Edit: Woops! looks like mine is only around 47g in the display tank!
My bad... guess I might have to pass :(

It’s funny you say that, without intending to I bough one that has a distinguishing little black moustache. I think although it’s recommended 30g for one, with most pairs of most smaller fish such as clowns and flame hawks etc. usually you don’t add another 30g for the second fish. For example an ocellaris clownfish is recommended for a 25-30g plus 10g for each additional (maximum of two adults) so I think you could do it comfortably.

Haha that's awesome, do you have any pics of the 2 hanging out together?

I love your optimism.
Maaaaybe I could run the gauntlet and try... we'll see ;)

Yeah I have a few. They aren’t the best because whenever I get too close they decide to become shy lol and my tank is a lot cleaner than in some of these pics haha.
