Hi there. I’m a lurker on this website, and have had aquariums for at least 20+ years. I got out of keeping them when I had twins, for 11years, but got back in almost two years ago. Hubby and I do it together. We have had a flame hawkfish for about 1 1/2 years. Tonight I went to feed and didn’t see him, looked all over and finally found him behind a rock in the back of the tank. He is my most aggressive fish and I can’t figure out what’s wrong. He was looking around, but breathing a little heavy. I’m perplexed, nothing has changed in the tank. We did add a hammer coral about 2weeks ago. The only thing I can come up with is that he was stung by the coral. It is 120 gallon tank and only 5 other fish, lots of live rock and a few mushrooms and soft corals. Anyone had experience with these fish. I had never had one before this one, and I really like the pain in the a@@! Thanks for any help

Sorry not used to posting here.

No the coral wasn’t quarantined. It’s a frag and no visible pests came in on it.

My Flame is in the same spot this morning, not wanting to move, but alert and not breathing too heavy. I’m completely confused as to his behavior.

The normal coral dips don’t remove encysted ich or velvet from the coral or the frag plug.
