Looking to purchase a Flame Hawkfish. But I see that they nip at dusters, snails, hermits & shrimp (fire & peppermint) anyone with reefs have this problem?

It's hit or miss, I kept a pair of flame hawks with a pair of skunk cleaners for years with no issues but others have them eat every shrimp immediately. It seems having the shrimp in first, and starting with a larger shrimp and smaller fish tends to help, but no guarantees.

I've had a dozen or so for 13 years or so -- never had any issue with any flame hawk or any invertebrate -- that I knew of.

That said, they are technically on the menu on paper.

Thanks, kinda like Tangs, do not keep two of the same genius together. My purple was introduced a
year after my yellow. scrapped tor two days now best friends.

Sometimes that works, but more often it does not. Depends on how many other tangs are in the tank.

I haven't had hawks pay any attention to feather dusters. And as long as the shrimp aren't tiny, haven't had a flame hawk go after shrimp. And I've had the flame hawk and cleaner shrimp combo in a lot of tanks I take care of.
