Flame scallops. What makes them so difficult to care for?

What makes them difficult to care for? Required water parameters seem pretty straightforward

My ipinion;
As with most filter feeders they require a lot of floating suspended food. Along with this extra food can come excess nutrients. Same issue with NPS.

I think the biggest issue is that they need to be fed and they move alot. So if it moves to a part of your tank that you can't reach or see it might die because of lack of food.

No one knows. Most just don't live longer than a year.
