I had a traditional trio of flame wrasses, 2 females, one male. Now I have 2 males and one female. So far, both males are playing nice and not being aggressive towards each other. I would be happy to keep both males, but I am afraid at some point in the future one of the males will become homicidal. The fish are currently residing in a stock tub at my shop due to a move and tank change, so catching one of the males will be fairly easy (at least when I move them to the new tank). What do you think?

I had the same thing happen. The two males played fine for a year but sold one.. I think along as the tank is big enough you shouldn't run in to any problems.

I think space is key to your success too. If you think it's too much to worry about, see if a LFS would be willing to trade your new male for a female or two. I know mine would.

I thought the females were the ones that were usually aggressive with each other and the males generally played nice.

I was in a similar situation and they played fine for a while and I was gone over a weekend and then when I came back one male was dead. I guess space was also an issue in my case. But I would advice to get rid of one male if its possible to catch them.

FWIW I just went through some emails from Kevin from PIA where I got my flame wrasses and he said it is that they keep all their males together with little aggression and it's usually the females who fight. Might contact him for suggestions

IME, if the tank is large enough, they will work it out.

Keeping two supermales together would not work, but since one transitioned to male, they should establish dominant/submissive roles. YMMV
