Hey guys,

Input on flaming angel ..is it worth trying it or do you all have bad experiences with it eating stuff...corals,clams and so on

Flame angels (actually all dwarf angels) are kind of hit or miss when it comes to coral picking. None of them can be trusted long term IMO. I have tried 5-6 different species, all having to have been removed. They would normally leave SPS and softies alone but would decimate fleshy LPS, clams, etc. That being said, you will probably get a lot of posts from people that have had 100% success....just depends on the angel.

I've had several star citizens over the years, and several epic failures. Long term it is always a gamble but well worth it for me--- but my coral are cheap and easy.

I have a pygmy angle and she has never bothered any of my corals. I took the risk because I love angles so much that I thought it was worth the risk. If you love flame angles more then your corals, then take the risk.

I started with a flame angel before going into corals. I knew they were hit or miss so I started adding corals slowly. My flame has been in my tank with corals for 1 year and almost 6 months. He hasn't touch any of my corals (that I noticed) and I have a mix reef (lps, sps, and softies). As everyone else stated its a gamble but could pay off for you. My suggestion is if you are willing to make the gamble make sure you are willing to pay the cost (of losing corals or pulling out the fish)

I've fought with the same issue lol. I've had 2 coral beauties in different reefs and had 1 excellent experience and 1 was a nipper but nothing serious. Also tried to keep em well fed to cut down the need for exploring else where for food.
