flaming mohican vs krakatoa

I think some of you reefers have hit the Krakatoa Pipe to hard! You will be able to get a $500 polyp for $50 in a year if they do not melt? Great investment! How many are being held back to chase the price down to reallity? Limited release so I can control the price and be three steps ahead of my minions, "these are not the Droids you are looking for" Snap out of it:) Nice Polyp for sure! Too funny!

Now the problem is that this was a price that was set by hobbyist. It wasn't set by a LFS or big name collector. It was what people were willing to pay for it on its own. I think the bidding started at $60.00. Hobbyist ran it up in price. Even the last one sold hit a record at over $600 for a single polyp. Look at Hallucinations, have they dropped in price? I highly doubt that the Krakatoa will drop to $50pp.

Did the spies look like this??

I was searching for the krak on the Internet and saw these guys out my window last night lol!

I don't think we know enough about how fast they grow yet to determine what the price will be I'm a year. But what's the difference between paying $250-300 a polyp versus. $500

Obviously since there hasn't been a flood of Krakatoa. Hitting this thread they might be as rare as they are made out to be. But as for the flaming Mohican. We have seen. A bunch of examples that are almost identical for way less in price

The difference is about $250 . But I also think something brand new from a wholesaler shouldn't be $250pp either.

As for how rare they are. GB posted a picture of the colony he has. It didn't look too small to me. 50-60 polyps.

Maybe it isn't like the maul morphs and it's not a melter. Duke's haven't melted and I'm guessing the GB colony hasn't either.

Gauging price based on an eBay auction is tricky business. Especially since bidding is now completely anonymous.

They will be 50$ a polyp in a year. Hornets dropped that fast, utter chaos dropped that fast. There is basically no zoa (might be one or two exceptions) that will hold its value. Especially something that came in on a maricultured rock, which means there will be many more very soon.

Like I said... Everyone that has one of these polyps mentioned above send me a price and picture. I will get them and put all them next to each other and take a picture of them together and put a stop to all this madness... LOL...

Nooo!..... just starting catching up and having a beer!
I must be crazy but I like my Flaming Mohican and thats just me :)

since you bite the bullet on the Mohican,i'm gonna look you up at the end of the month Allan

Now is when Hype and Deception can grab a hold of your wallet and in some casses can run someone out of the hobby. I saw the guy who started the Utter Chaos Polyp get run out of the hobby when people found out a local store called Fish Collection had hundreds of these polyps that a guy bought some and started them at $200 a polyp, they went to $50 in a week when the store said why is this guy selling polyps he got from me for $80 for a colony and now he is selling them for $200 per polyp. The kid got such a bad rap that he left the hobby, he went from collector to deceptor and could not take the heat. Now lets say I want to come out with a polyp that I have that is a pretty unique morph. I put it on Ebay have a couple of friends that are in on my deal (minions) run the price up to $500, now I have set a price to soak the good people of R2R with. Ethical? Marketing? Deception? This is how it is done, and in most cases we are not allowed to even talk about the deception because of vendors threads. That is why I made a unwanted comment here as I think that any hobbyist who sets a price like this is out of line. Ask most what they really pay and you will be suprised. I have bought from many and I will pay a heavy price for what I want, but the Pump and Dump Penny stock type BS that goes on here is bordering on criminal in this Reefers opinion. I do not mind paying a pretty penny for the good stuff and I buy corals from many high end vendors. I picked up a WWC Bouncy Bounce, CC Colorado Sunburst Anenome, and some JF Insane Rainbows at Macna so I have expensive taste yet I feel other vendors and hobbyist cross a line in the ethics department. If you have asked a friend to pump your thread for a free frag or said you paid double what you really paid your ethics come into question as well. So you guys can have your Krak, I will wait, or trade.

In soming up what I have said I aggree that it is my choice to pay the price or not, just hope that all of my friends here on R2R understand that the $500 dollar Ebay price or any price put on a coral can be double or tripple what the person paid for the coral. I have been offered the Bro deals and there are some people I do not buy from because I know the Deception as I was asked to participate.

I love this Hobby and collect many nice pieces, but I can call a Spade a Spade and if you use Deception to Hype a coral you are not doing the Right Thing in this Reefers opinion. With that said I do not know who started selling the Krakatoa and if it is really a one in a Million Ultra only 3 guys have it in the world Polyp I appologize for my comments. Most Polyps this is not the case.

Peace and Goodnight!

LFS just got in 20p of hallucination 20pp and I went there at the right time!!!

Yeah... can't write that much information on a thread like this. Break it up or no one will read it except for the charged up ones ready for a rebuttle.

Rob you're on the pot again.

Chaos was a one of a kind... so were the hornets at the time.

Bowser was not.

Kraks don't seem to be. Do you agree?

Very good comparison. I do think the GB Emperors look kinda similar to freddy Krueger and Neptunes Cove's Mohican that have darker coloration. GB has already changed several colorations of his Emperor zoas, so it is rather illusional to tell what is the exact coloration at this point. Pics can only tell us that much. Unless you own them all otherwise it is just way too hard to determine which is which. Just like the CAR, bowser and Shazam, even the CAR and bowser have several lineages lol
