I'd like to get some info on Flamingo Tongue snails from those with experience with them. I know they are known to eat mostly Gorgonias and that they will also eat GSP. Has anyone been able to keep some alive within their GSP beds? If so, how much GSP would be needed to maintain them and at what rate would the snails mow down the GSP? TIA

Never heard of them eating GSP. Do you have references for that? I have seen them in the wild but never tried to keep one in an aquarium. Are they available in the trade? Trying to learn something today. Good luck.

I don't put much hope on that post. GSP is Pachyclavularia violacea , not Briareum . I would think you would have to feed whip coral or other gorgs. But, maybe you can show that I am wrong.

Thanks, there are so many technically different corals being labeled as GSP that is hard to tell what some of the older posts were talking about. Have you had any experience with a Flamingo Tongue?

I have never tried to keep one in an aquarium for the exact reasons you posted on food source. Personally, I believe this is one snail that should be left in nature.

Question for @Thespammailaccount, I just saw the pic of your Flamingo Tongue on another post. Would you be willing to enlighten me with some details of caring for it? Thank you.
Expensive. I think I paid seven bucks for the snail and I spend about $75.00 a month on feeding it. Never heard about it eating gsp and if it did it would require a lot. My snail will strip a huge colony fast and I am not talking frags large colonies like 10x6 in size. Luckily I have a good source of corals or the cost would double or triple

Well I guess I'll just have to put this on the back burner unless I can hear from someone who has successfully raised one on GPS. I was so hoping it could be done. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Oh no,.... now your curiosity has reinvigorated my curiosity! I'd just hate to risk condemning the critter to starvation without a bit more hands on knowledge. So for now I'll just wait and see if anyone can expand on this topic. Thanks.

A good idea. I bought a lettuce nudibranch because the site said it was a great addition to a clean up crew since it would eat algae. Once I got it it did not look like it was eating anything. Digging deeper I found out it only eats one type of algae and it is not very common. I felt so bad after the fact I even tried to buy this pest algae but could not find any. Long story short it only lived a few months and slowly withered away very sad to watch
