Howdy all! I’ve been planning on adding some Flasher Wrasse to my 65g reef for a while, and I think I’m ready to bite the bullet and order them. I know that its best to either do a single male or 3 males to help reduce aggression, but my question is how long do you think I’d have if I introduced 2 males to the tank before I need to add that third to distribute the aggression? I’m looking at ordering a carpenters and a line spot right now, but I really want to get an eight line Flasher male in the near future- I’m just ganna have to keep my eyes peeled for one cause all of the places I have gotten fish from don’t have them in stock right now. Any thoughts?

It's funny, I've always thought the same thing about needing three fairy wrasses, but recently I've had a streak of bad luck and can't seem to keep more than two without one becoming aggressive... go figure.

While I can't predict how your three individuals will behave (there are definitely variances in temperament among individuals, I can attest) with an acclimation box, I think you have as good a chance as any adding the third a bit later. And just a heads-up, If you are still looking - NY Aquatics had an eightline the last time I browsed ;)

A 65g is a little too small for an 8line flasher. They are bigger and boisterous than other flasher wrasses.

Typically I'd say the sooner the better; anything past 2-3 weeks erase any "grace" period.

But ehhh, an eightline flasher will completely rule those two - perhaps overly so. Risky.

I do agree.

I guess I’ll steer clear of the 8 line until I have a larger tank then. Would an angular fin Flasher work well with those other two?

Thanks for the help guys! Now just to wait till I can get a bigger system- then I can get my 8 line AND finally get some fairies [emoji6]
