Flasher wrasse and chloroquine phosphate

Hi all

Anyone have recent experience prophylacticly treating a wrasse with CP? All the info I can find is from 2015-2017. Some say don’t do it and some say they had success doing it. What’s the most recent recommendation on using CP with a wrasse?

I think the general consensus is not to use CP on most wrasses.

I know fairy and Halo Wrasse have been more successful in the use of CP.

Have you tried copper power at 1.75ppm? For Wrasse? It works well. Using the Hanna checker to monitor.

I have always used CP in the QT. This will be the first wrasse I put through QT. Chloroquine is so easy with its once and done dosing but I want to do what’s best for the wrasse. Will have to pick up the Hanna copper checker. Thanks

No problem. I have a diamondtail flasher in copper now. I personally have had way better luck with Wrasse in copper than CP.

It's much easier with the Hanna checker being able to monitor the Cu level and treat just slightly above the minimum.

I just finished a round of copper on a couple anampses and they did well.

I haven’t tried a flasher... as far as I know they are still considered a no-go with CP.

My most recent two fairy wrasses I tried with CP, and while we made it through... I did notice significant appetite suppression around day 7 or 8. I transferred them to a second unmedicated QT after 14 days.

I’ll probably stick with copper for fairies in the future, even using cupramine I’ve never had issues getting wrasses to eat in copper.

I don’t treat wrasses with CP anymore (and I know it’s CP because I have it via prescription). Cupramine when necessary.

recently brought a mccorsker's and a carpenter flasher through chloroquine. Both are doing well. There was an issue with one of the flasher but it did not correlate with the onset of the drug. I believe it was trauma r/t being scared as I was screwing around in the QT. Regardless, it recovered after an extended stay.
