Flasher Wrasse playing dead

My Flasher Wrasse got stressed out from the acclimation process and went and has been laying on the ground under a rock all night. I figured he’d be okay by not but he’s still there. He is still breathing and moving his eyes. Should I just leave him alone?

That’s where flasher wrasse typically sleep. They also cover themselves with a mucus, which could freak you out the first time you see it.

Leave him alone and he should be fine. He is already stressed and going after it will only stress it more.

What are it’s tank mates?

2 clowns, royal gramma, watchman goby, scooter Lenny. But only the clowns and scooter were in before him

I agree, leave him be, wrasses act very strange when introduced to new tanks; mine hid for three days after I got him and did not start eating until day 5.

I don’t know what people do without forums or reliable sources of information. Imagine having a fish lay on the ground for 3 days and not knowing that’s just how they act! Thanks for calming my nerves!

I bought one for my tank and he dropped right to the sand bed and laid there Looking TERRIFIED for 3 days. Then....bang! Perfect tank mate. Try not to stress. Heh. I freaked out when I couldn't find him as well and didn't know at first he finds a hole you wouldn't think they could fit in, and sure enough, that's where he sleeps.

No worries! It can be stressful to see but they usually come around in a few days.

Mine does it sometimes too, dont worry about it. I thought mine was dead a million times, then he swims around and is all fine. Just leave him alone and he will be fine.
