I have a situation I want to run by everybody to see if I'm correct...
I purchased a male flasher wrasse about 5 weeks ago and added him to my tank. In the meantime I was looking for a female, but with no luck. Over the 5 week period my male flasher has appeared to have turned into a female. Now, if I get another male flasher wrasse I should ok. Or, if I get another female, the more dominant of the 2 should turn male, correct?

Thanks!

I wouldn't mix 2 of the same type as 1 will be picked on. Get a few different type/s of flashers, this would be much better. They are a lot like fairies in that females always tend to transition unfortunately.

No, don't buy another male of the same species.
You may, however, purchase a male flashers of a different species.

Female Paracheilinus are not often sold, and when they are sometimes sold, usually those "females" are submales.

OK...LiveAquaria has what they are saying are female McCoskers...if they are females and if the one in my tank has turned to female, will they be ok together? Will one of them turn male possibly...or both could turn male?

It's very unlikely your male has reverted to female. You likely have witnessed some fading of the colors on the male, but not a sex reversal.

Assuming your fish is still male (most likely assumption) and assuming at least one of the "females" you would be purchasing are sub-male (most likely assumption), you will have problems on your hands.

If you choose a male of a different species, not only do the chances of compatibility increase exponentially, but the coloration on your mccoskeri should return in time.

Agreed 100% on this.

Oooo...so the my male's colors should come back with the addition of another male (non-McCosker's) wrasse. So what wrasse would you recommend that is colorful and won't totally kill my credit card?

Correct!

(not sure why the whipfin shows up at the end of that list; it shouldn't - and don't pick that one!)
Obviously not mccoskeri. :P
