Getting ready to order rock for a 88 gallon display. Planning on using Marco rock and I am debating between:

1.) 100 pounds of Key Largo Dry Rock

Or

2.) 70 pounds of Key Largo Dry Rock and 30 pounds of the prime cuts (flat bottom rock)

I want to get a bit more than I need so I have options. I am going to have sand in the tank. Have not decided it I will just place the rocks or bond them (drill, glue, etc).

Just trying to decide if the flat bottom rock is a good idea or not. thoughts?

I could only think one one thing when I saw the title.

When I was younger I thought the song by Queen was "Flat bottom girls" cuz my mom always said she had no butt and was flat bottomed. Learned when I was much older it was "Fat bottomed girls" I still sing it wrong....

Sorry, I did not answer your question at all. It is a personal preference with rock, depends on type of corals wanted too.

The flat bottom rocks, Stax and other shelf type pieces are all useful in different ways and look pretty nice. I would say the trick to using them is to avoid an overall look of horizontal and vertical lines in the aquascape which is less natural.
