okay so I took everybody's advice and I went to the L FS and bought a wrasse ,,well after his acclamationI introduced him to the dt ,,as soon as he could he hit the sand and I haven't seen him since,, not much good eating flatworms with his head buried in the sand,, I called the lady at the lfs and she said that they actually make a cocoon and can live in the sand for a long. Of time and I thought to myself what good is that and it didn't sound right to me I haven't been able to find anything on the internet concerning that,, so does anybody know how long a wrasse can survive in the sand Thanks

My melanurus I told you about stayed buried for 9 days. Let him do his thing and I'm 95% certain you will be pleased in a week to a week-and-a-half. Some people have wrasse bury themselves for up to a month. I wouldn't worry until after 2 weeks. What kind did you get?

just think, that wrasse probably made a big journey from the ocean where it could hide in the sand all day everyday if it wanted, then gets stuck in a bag with no sand, probably in the LFS with little to no sand, finally gets to your tank and gets the opportunity to bury itself. just give it time, let it adjust!

I agree. When I brought mine into my tank it took several days (7-10) before I saw him. They are funny fish but very skiddish to a new tank.

I bought one and it never touched the flat worms EVER!! I don't want to put any chemicals into my DT unless I have to so I syphoned them out every time I seen them took about a month but it worked
