Flatwork??

I noticed this worm/ Beatle creature on the glass all the way at the top while I was doing a water change?? Looked whote from the outside and brown on the top. It's balled up when I took it out the water? Any advice is greatly appreciated (harmful, helpful, ok)?....

Is it dead yet? Can you put it in a cup of water and let it flatten out.
