Hey all, got a new frag a few days ago. Dipped it and it had a few flatworms. I re fragged it to a new plug and dipped a second time now new worms fell off. Looked at every inch of it and didn’t see any more. It’s in DT now (don’t have a qt tank. Any id on this? Should i just preemptively treat with flatworm exit to DT?

yes it is a flatworm. Using FWE for a couple flatworms is sorta like dropping a Nuke on a carjacker. Keep your eyes open and manually remove them as you see them. Should it get out of control, there are many ways to get rid of them, with FWE being a last resort IMO. Many wrasses will gobble them up as fast as they can hunt them down.

Gotcha i just figured the fwe would just nip it in bud before it ever gets out of hand. I QT fish or get pre qt fish so getting a fish to pick ‘em out would take a little time. Any idea on species of worm?

Not a clue about species. A simple FW removal tool is a length of rigid airline tubing with enough silicone tubing on it to allow it to drain into a 5g bucket on the floor beside the tank. Just start a siphon and suck the little buggers out. The diameter of the tubing keeps the flow low so you're not draining the tank as you hunt.

I love that analogy! I think I laughed for good minute, but I agree with not using FWE unless every other natural option doesn't work. Basically using FWE will kill all of the flat worms at once causing the water to become toxic. Not good for every thing in the DT!

Thanks. Gotcha will wait and see. My reasoning for fwe early was that there would likely be very few and that i could nuke them early so i don’t have to worry much about the toxins
