Flatworm Removal via Wrasse and Mandarin

Hello Everyone,

I'm currently starting to see a few clear flatworms appear on my 25 G Lagoon, and want to get ahead of the problem before it takes over my tank.

I have heard recommendations of:
1. Yellow Corris
2. Six Line
3. Melanarus
4. Velet Nudi (I want to avoid)
5. Green Mandarin

I added a Yellow Corris about a week ago but he has been MIA in the sand ever since... so I think he is still getting used to things or is fairly shy.

Anything I can expedite this solution?

Since your tank is only a 25 lagoon, i would personally avoid using a fish as a solution to this problem. If they are only the harmless photosynthetic flatworms that only cause damage once they reach plague porportions, I would just personally use flatworm exit whenever they get too abundant. However, a good idea for a fish suggestion would possibly be a pink streak wrasse, they stay small and i believe they eat flatworms (not 100% sure). Definitely do NOT add a green mandarin to a 25 gallon, and its a bit small for the other fish you listed. Best of luck

Those fish I listed were recommendations of solutions not current livestock list. I'm having also an excessive amount of pod population ahha. I'm trying to avoid chemicals as much as I can.. but I heard flatworm exit does well.

Try flatworm exit first, if it doesn’t eliminate them all, try the pink streaked wrasse, as per Kermit’s. Velvet nudis will eat them, we had a tank with a major flatworm problem, put 2 velvet nudis in there, you could literally see the flatworms moving to escape the nudis, they did an excellent job. The only downside is when your done with them, you rehome them(see if LFS will credit you or possibly find someone with flatworms), good luck

I had success with flat worm exit, a yellow wrasse and a six line wrasse. Definitely try flat worm exit it will destroy a large population and the use the livestock to pick off the rest.

Hey everyone this is a 25 gallon tank. I would avoid putiing in a fish thats not suitable for a small tank. Since the OP has a few and they are not red, I would suggest FW Exit. I dont think they will release too many toxins but I would run carbon after the treatments (7 days apart) and change out 50% of the water as soon as the worms die off. It should take about 15 to 45 min for this to happen.
