I've got this fleshy bubble on my red planet. It looks like it's full of water or something like that. I don't see any bugs or anything like that. My phos is 0.00 hanna checker, alk around 10.5, cal 450, ph 7.9. It still seems happy and everything else is happy. I'm not so experienced with sps. Should I be concerned about this?

Weird... It needs more light :) I don't have a clue about the "sac"

It kind of looks like a sponge to me.

Has the red planet always looked like that? It looks like its getting to Much light or not enough. I have a small colonie of that stuff and it should have a nice healthy green body with red arms and dark red feeders. Try moving it around in your tank to find the right spot.

As for the sack, I would just keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse. Never seen it before.

I don't have much in the tank for live stock. Just an algae blenny, 2 turbo snails, and some stomatella. From what I can see the sack is under the skin of the coral not on top, it's got a polyp sticking out of it. This tank has been through a bit of light problems in the last 6months with diy leds burning out and now I'm back to a MH. Everything is just starting to be happy again. This guy is gaining color and growing some, but I just don't really know what to think of this bubble. glad to hear yours just went away joker295, I'll just keep an eye on it.

Maybe it's saltwater that's getting trapped or sucked in under the skin? I recently saw an SPS at a LFS that has the same thing happen and didn't seem to cause any issues. Not sure if the piece is still there or not; will find out tomorrow.

I did not feel it, but it did seem squishy. It popped in the night and most of it has blow away. There is only a little piece of it left and everything looks good so far. I'll keep an eye on that spot to see if there are any problems in the future.

hard to tell from the pic, but there is such a thing as "blistering" on SPS. I had it happen to my birdsnest coral after a salinity swing when my ATO failed. It eventually went away on its own, and didnt seem to harm the coral.

google "SPS Blistering"

There is no discoloration or disturbance. No sign of rot. I would not worry about it.

I have these blisters on some of my SPS also. Any1 have any clue what they are? THis seems to be a rare phenomena.
