When I flip the magnet, the blade slaps the glass really hard. Makes me kind of nervous, anyone ever experience any issues doing it this way?

It happens yes. No pro with it so far.
I stopped using the dry half and use a magfloat with a larger stronger magnet too.

Why did you start to do that? Also how thick is your glass?
Two tanks and honestly never measured or cared , pretty standard I belive.
The big magnet holds the flipper better and stops the scraper from falling off and gives a better scrape.

I rarely flip mine over, just use the scraper not the pad. It does make a sound when i move to other sides of the tank but never caused an issue on the thin glass of a 20 gallon.

I use the flipper on my red sea which has thick glass, and an aqueon which is thinner. No issues. If I'm putting it in, I do try to ease the 2 pcs together. I also don't flip, just ease it around corners.

If I didn’t have a six foot lid, then I wouldn’t be flipping it in tank either. However I’m not going to take my lid off ever couple days to flip it. Guess I’ll just have to deal with it.
