Flipping T5 lamps

In the Jake Adams article in the latest issue of Coral magazine, Jake suggests that T5 fixtures do not burn the lamps evenly. He recommends flipping the lamps every three months or so to get a more even burn/better performance. This is a new one for me. Does anyone flip their lamps on a regular basis?
