Flip's Reef

2. I did do a 25g water change last night. My water station makes that sooooo easy to do! I almost enjoy doing them nowadays. :D
NICE !!! I wish one day when I build another system, I'll have this luxury. 1smile1

Okay, here are all the corals I got today. I haven't mounted them to anything yet... I just put them in the sand. They are a little bit miscolored because they were under LED's in a frag tank, but they should get rich with color as time progresses. Here's the pics. I'll go back and put the names in when I get a chance (Updated** All names added below)...

If ya feeling like a PIMP Pinoy, go on brush ur shoulda off !!!
A lil JZ love for ya !!

So, a very nice guy that I met on Craigslist (as humorous as that may sound) just delivered me a PM Waste Collector (Older Model WC810... so the large model) and a PM Substrate Reactor (SR45, older model). He was about 30mins away and drove it to me at lunch. Man... People are just awesome when they do that! I plan on using the collector cup for my skimmer for a bit (because it's ginormous!), and using the SR45 as a secondary chamber for my Ca Reactor. That should help keep the pH in check. I'm going to mount a pH probe to the lid of it as soon as I get that part in.

Sweet, take pictures. I want to see how this is done, Flipside-style.

Oh, dude. That mod is super easy. You can make a secondary chamber for Ca reactors out of old coffee cans if you wanted to. :) Nothing special. My OCD forced me to go with Precision Marine because that's the Ca Reactor I already have. LOL! But, yeah... I'll definitely post pics of the mod. Super easy. I'm just waiting on my order to ship in. Bought a few other maintenance items as well.

Nicely done Sir! Thanks for posting so we can all enjoy the experience.

Ssssoooooooooooooooo........ The refugium is in the garage. I gave away about 80lbs of live rock to the buddy that helped me build the sump. I simply had too much. I didn't have quite enough water made up for the difference, but I wasn't expecting there to be this big of a difference. I put an additional 15g of saltwater in there, and need "at least" another 15g. The tank turned out to be 105g. I'm very happy how it turned out. I still have lots to do, but it's almost ready to be "one" with the "system." :)

Also, my stupid kalk reactor messed up on me. The impeller stopped spinning! Grrr... My buddy brought over a new impeller and I found that I had a bent shaft on my old one. This kalk reactor has an older style MJ400 hooked up to it. The new one's don't work due to the depth of the volute. I had to get creative but it's working again. That's all that matters.

OH, before I forget. I got my fairy wrasse out of the overflow. It's in the refugium now. It immediately went into hiding. Hope that doesn't last long. :(

Any way, I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow. I'm pretty zonked right now.

Yeah pics dude, other wise it didn't happen!
Btw, we went with a large group to Lesd and almost cleaned him out after you almost cleaned him out on frags too.
We have a small group of Marsh friends and once a month we come together, eat breakfast, talk some reef and coral stuff, go coral shopping or hang out by one of them and judge his system. LOL.
Lesd ask us if he can be part of our great group next time, of course we have to have a discussion about that (free corals for all of us).
I believe that our next visit will be at Mark in the Woodlands, not sure but we can invite you too, that is if we can get you away from your fishbowl, LOL.

LOL! Les really did need to clean out his frag tank, man. One of the Black Mamba's that I got from him was encrusting to his sand bed. LOL! :D

Sure, would love to hang out! I wish the whole club would do stuff like that. I'd like to meet everyone because I've got a lot to learn!!!

For those of you reading this, Diesel has a pretty taddow tank setup!

Okay guys... here are some pics from my phone. Pardon the quality, but it gives you a general idea.

First, I went to my buddy's house to pick it up. I think he did a great job routing everything out.

Then, we loaded it up in the car. :D Had plenty of room left in the car, but it was a lot bigger looking than I thought it would be.

On the way home, I stopped at one of my favorite LFS' and bought some supplies: a cleaner thingy (scraper on a stick), some ARM XL for my Ca reactor, and 6 bags of Tropic Eden Reef Flakes. Here's what 90lbs of sand looks like in there.

Just as a side note, I really wish I used this stuff in my DT! It's amazing substrate!

Here's the tank filling with 90% of the rock in there. A lot was still in the Rubbermaid stock tank.

And here it is after I pulled a lot of rock out of there.

The tank is full now, and it is flowing along with the system nicely. When it all clears up, I'll take some better pictures and post them up. Hopefully the fairy wrasse makes an appearance for you all. I did see it, late last night, all nestled-up behind a rock, with it's mucus coat around it.

Will take better pics later.

Oh, btw, this puts my system volume at just over 300g. I'm guesstimating that I have over 220g running right now. If no sand or rock was in the system, I'd be running 283g's of water. Haha!
