Float switch for RODI

Alright folks, another noob question from a non noob--

How do I install a float switch for my brute trash can for RODI water? My RO unit will be in the basement near a drain -- but I want to be sure it's set up such that it cuts off when the trash can is full.

How do I do that?

The float switches I see appear to be hooked up to electrical --I need them to shut off my RO unit. Possible?

As you can see by my question -- there's a reason I kept my brute and RO in my downstairs bathroom at the old house --- I'm useless in this realm!

Uses a float, similar to your toilet

I use an electrical solenoid as the main shut off and a mechanical float valve for a back up.

I use this one. Pretty much the same principle. You just hook it over the top of your brute can. And if you need to fill a 5-gallon bucket you can just put it on top of it.

Ok I bought both -- now for someone to come to Indianapolis area to install my float switch and my RO unit off of the back of the water softener in the basement by the drain.

I have no idea what I'm doing....

I wish! I'm useless with this stuff. Once I see someone do it I can figure it out, sometimes..

Check out the bulk reef supply you tube channel. I'm sure I saw an installation video for one there. Might be the visual guide you are looking for. By the way, really appreciate the input you give on wrasses, tangs and quarantining. I'm learning lots from you!
