So I recently got an apex and more recently got a breakout box and some float switches. After hooking them up. It doesn't seem to really do anything. I hooked one wire to ground and one to a switch number. On the dashboard it then shows that the switch is closed but if I move the float nothing happens.

I then figured maybe the dashboard doesn't refresh fast enough so I coded a light to operate by the switch still nothing.

Tried another switch thinking it was faulty still nothing.

I'm sure someone has a simple answer for me that I didn't think of.

When you say nothing happens, you mean the switch doesn't go back to the open position if you move it? If you disconnect the switch from the breakout box, does it show the switch is open?
When you say you hooked one wire to ground, you mean the ground terminal on the breakout box?
What happens if you just take a wire connected to the ground terminal on the breakout box, and touch each of the switch terminals as you go along? Does it show each switch going closed, then open again?

Yes one wire to the ground port on the break out box and one to the switch port. It went from open to closed once I hooked it up. Then wouldn't go back to open unless I unhooked it. I haven't tested it with a piece of wire. But what my main question is does it show right away on the dashboard the change in switch position

It usually shows within a few seconds on the dashboard. Not always instantly.....some times 10 seconds or more before it shows. The switch operates/does whatever it is supposed to do within a second or so, the delay is just in the fusion display
