Not sure of the official definition of a "floating reef" but to me it's any rock that's not supported by the bottom or another rock ( I guess) it hard to see in the picture but I have 3 pieces that are only attached to the back of the tank and float. The rest are sitting on the bottom.innovative.
help me out. I kinda get it but not sure.
what defines a floating reef?
Wow that is creative. Do you have your rocks yet? I'm curious as to how your aquascape will look
Interested in seeing the finished scape. My only issue is seeing the bracing siliconed to the side glass. What I did was cut the rock flat with a wet saw and used epoxy and super glue to attach it to the back of my tank.
That's the coolest aquascape I've seen

No I'd did mine with the tank empty and let the glue and epoxy fully cure before putting the water in.Yes, I'll use TLF Stax in the front, they're lightweight and flat. In the back I'm using Marco Rocks Reef Saver. I hope it turns out like I imagine
I know bud, the side silicone goes against a wall for the same reason, I'd hate to see it. Yours looks awesome, you did it with the tank filled? Never thought about that.
Thanks! Let's see what happens when I hide the glass and add the rocks!
As said above, I think that if your rocks are partially or totally suspended, it could be called a floating reef. If it's supported but the space that the rocks in the bottom is reduced, then it's a Negative Space Aquascape. BTW, could you show us how you did yours with PVC and putty?
