Floating canopy idea

I was thinking about using some this light black pvc or acrylic sheeting to build a small box around my light (aesthetic and to help light bleeding into room). Thinking something light weight to hang with magnets for ease of removal for tank maintenance. The current rod holding up the lights are cast iron

Seems like a good idea. Are you looking to hang it from the ceiling, mount it off the wall, or mount it in with your iron brackets?

I was thinking using to small cleats on the wall. The using magnets to attach it to the cleats and pipe. Easy removal

Only thing I would be worried about is the magnet failing. If it is too weak a bump could knock it down.

hanging from the ceiling would give support and a hanging kit could be adjusted up for access. B
