Floating fish trap

Idk man....
I have a reg 4x6in fishtrap with a plateglass that slams shut.
My problem is that it seems all the fish KNOW it's a foreign object and smthg to avoid. It literally has to sit in my tank fir daaaaaays b4 it's even mildly accepted....even with freshly diced up seafood just waiting to be eaten inside the trap (which is a microcosm of marriage LMBO)
THEN when I approach the tank and get remotely close to the fishing line I cut to slam the door by gravity.... it's like a Search Warrant has been issued and they all hide.
No fishtrap.... I can do Jumping Jacks & the MoonWalk in front of the tank with fish rolling their eyes in boredom
Fishtrap in play.... they hide when they see even a shadow
Their intelligence interests me and frustrates me
