Floating Island for my aquascape?

Can't help but thinking my aquascape needs a little more dimension. I like what I currently have, but thinking it might add to it if I do a floating rock or small shelf to the far side of the glass.

Given this sits on my desk, I only view the tank from the front and right side. The island would be on the left side glass where the circle is shown.

Looking for opinions if folks think this would add to or detract from what I currently have. I don't have coral plans for the tank mapped out yet, but thinking it might be a good spot for something "invasive" like GSP, Blue Clove, or Xenia .

I also just saw banner advertisement for "Aqua Rocks" on the forum (this sites advertisements might be the only websites I actually like).

This is pretty cheap, and I could let a coral take it over as well.

What about connecting both of your rock structures with a high arch

I think a floating shelf would be great over there. I would not put a matting gsp or zenia on it though as it will just end up looking like a blob once it gets taken over. I would put a branching sps up there.

Good call. I didn't think that though. I don't think I'm up for acropora since I'm a new reefer, but I did see some bird nest corals that I heard were much more approachable to entry level reefers. Any other ideas for branching corals for a new reefer?

Yes birdsnest is good. Also Montipora Digitata, some varieties of pocillopora, and some varieties of stylophora. All very easy to keep and trim into any shape you want.

I glued an SPS and a small frag of Rasta’s to a faux rock frag rack. Works well for me..
