Floating Suspension Hybrid Light Fixture Hanging System: Max Weight?

Does anyone know what the max weight for the Aquatic Life Floating Suspension Hybrid Light Fixture Hanging System is? I cannot find it online and tried calling them but couldn’t ahold of someone.

I would like to add the 61” t5 to my tank with 4 Radion XR30g4’s set w/the 24” spacers and do not want to assume it will hold the weight. If drilled into studs I’m sure it will be good but better to ask before I come home and see it in my tank! ceiling mounting is not an option. Too high and at an angle.

Aquatic Life got back to my email. They are looking into my setup to see if it would support or not.

While I decided to not add a T5 setup to my display, the reply I got from Aquatic life’s customer support is incredible and I wanted to share. Hope this helps someone else later on.

“I tested the 36” dimmable unit which is 18” wide along with floating suspension with the extension brackets. Pushing the fixture off the wall around 8”.

I then added 3 – 1 gallon jugs of water weighing 8.5 pounds apiece to the center of the fixture. It did sag but I was able to adjust the support wires to make it level again.

So with that I calculate your fixture will weigh in around (19.0 lb + (4 * 4.5 lb)) = 37 lb approximately. Off your wall it would be 23.25” + 5” = 28.25” total.

The fixture I tested was weighing 19 lbs plus 25.5 = 44.5 pounds total. Off the wall, 18” + 8” = 26”

So the floating brackets had no problem holding the weight. My only concern is I did not test with the fixture width of 23.25” and 5” away from the wall.

I would feel more comfortable with three floating brackets myself to add addition support to the fixture. As a side note we did not include wires long enough to do what you would like to accomplish with the floating kit. We only designed the floating kit to work with the 18” fixtures and the new 8” extension brackets. You may need to use the suspension wires that came with the fixture.
