We just bought a house and I'm putting in a new floor in the basement. I currently have carpet on top of cement. I'm going to rip out the carpet and replace it. I'm considering a cork backed product or vinyl.

Does anyone have any insight into how these products perform when they get wet? Can I go with a floating floor or should I glue it down?

My tank 85 gallons.

Thanks!

Before we replaced an old carpet we put a laminate flooring under our tank which was a 90 gallon. That was in 2004 and it still looks good, especially since we got new carpet a year ago.

I purchased Vinyl flooring specifically for the water resistance, I also went floating floor to avoid buckling from moisture, growth and contraction from the seasons. Couldnt be happier. Also i made sure I supported the floor from the crawl space, I would make this a high priority for anything over 40 gallons.
