Flow at night?

Good afternoon,
What is the reason that people turn off or down their flow overnight? Just to give the fish a rest period or do the coral benefit from this break as well?

Maybe to let the fish rest in a normally high flow tank?

I wouldn't do it. Does the ocean slow down at night?

Good question, I think it’s only us trying to be nice and give the fish a break, I have mine turned down only a couple percent, makes me feel I’m still nice but feel the fish don’t really need it, they could even benefit from the flow to swim against rather than a calm flow.
