Hi from the uk,
ive recently watched quite a few brs videos on youtube and I like those guys so thought I’d register here.

my latest tanks up and running, just playing around with flow.

im Using Tmc reef tides 20000
on pulse when I get to 5 duration it matches the tanks physics and sea saws perfectly.
one side will go up around 8cm whilst the opposite side dips the same.

the fish start moving back and fore like in the ocean.

my question is, is there any merit to this as I’m thinking everywhere in the tank gets this movement no dead spots and nothings blasted.
however it seams like a massive force is being put on the side glass, that’s a lot of water movement and I’m worried about doing it.
so is it good, bad, or dangerous and why?
cheers

I think it does put a lot of pressure on the glass, the manual for my ecotech MP10 say they advise you consult your tank builder before running such a program to see if your tank can withhold the force.

Ok, that’s what I was thinking. I’ll also keep it of random just in case it chooses that program.

I think this is a fantastic topic!

By seesaw, do mean a wave pattern? As in back and forth motion that could potentially reach a wave from if the frequency and flow rate is correct for the tank size?

Has anyone actually asked their tank builder what the tank can take as far as a wave goes? I'm really not sure and would really like to hear each manufacturer's responses.

I will say that I have a Red Sea Reefer xl 525. And with all the reported seam failures lately, I will not run a wave in my tank. My gyres are set to constant flow. I want to run a wave but I am affraid of seam failure. Any Red Sea owners out there running a wave in their tank? I would love the hear feedback!

Hi,
I have redsea reefer 425xl and share your views, the cabinet top isn’t even resting on the sides....
as I increase the time it changes, around 3 it twists the whole tank volume, then at 5 it sea saws, as if the tank was picked up and moved side to side...
regards
