Iv currently got a 55 gal mixed reef I plan on going to sps dominant. I currently am running 165watt full spectrum leds and have a wp40 for flow. I am not satisfied there is enough flow to have sps on the sand bed and some other spots. What would you do I was thinking of adding another wp40 my tank would then turn over its water volume 126 times an hour

2 wp40's might be a bit much for a 55g. Maybe add a wp-25. Depending on which fixture you have you might need to add 1 more.

Maybe add a wave maker instead? Those seem to move all the water not just a specific area. Im no reef genius, Just a thought.

Good deal, hope they do the trick for you! I'm setting up a 90g here in the next few months and I still haven't decided what kind of circulation pumps to get. And mp40s are out of my budget haha.

Again my bad. Thought you said mp40 not wp40. Haha. I'm thinkin about getting wp40 for my 90g. Says you're using 165w LEDs, are those the Chinese ones off eBay that are dimable? I just got some for my build. Wondered how you like em?

What % do you keep the blues, and full spectrum at? And how high above the tank do you mount them?

I just got a pair of Jebao's new rw-15's to replace my WP40's. These are amazing pumps that get a wider flow pattern than the WP model. I'd recommend them. Also, they can be turned down from 100% all the way to 10% in 10% increments. This means that if it's too much flow at full power, you can cut back to 90%, 80%...and so on until you get the right amount for your tank. In a 55, the flow might be abit much at 100%, but you could back it down to wherever you feel is right.

I run a WP25 and a RW8 in my 55G and an WP40 and RW15 in my 150 and I can honestly say go with the RW series pumps. The flow pattern is much better. The new controller is far superior over the WP series. And they only cost you a couple of extra dollars over the WP pumps. Get a pair of the RW pumps and they will wirelessly sync to each other. The Evergrow D120/D2040 (any different brands and names for these Chinese LEDs) are vastly popular and do a good job at growing just about anything. My 2 cents is don't order one on ebay though. Instead order one from a sponsor on R2R or reputable online store. Most of those guys offer an extra warranty eBay won't provide. I personally have bought all my Jebao/Evergrow products through ERC (Exotic Reef Creations) and he has taken care of all my needs and offered warranty, not that I have needed it yet. Good luck!

I also have a 55 Gal. of the 48inch variety and was told 2X RW-15s were overkill. So I've considered 2X RW-4s. Have you looked into those small ones?
