I am upgrading to a 240 gallon reef tank with trigger 36 sump and a 30 gallon cube refugium. I am planning on using This 2400gph overflow by modular marine. Is that too big? Should I go down a size to to 1800gph or even 1600gph? as far as return pumps I am torn between a used varios8 that I picked up with a bunch of used stuff I bought or either a Vectra M2 or L2. The sump will be below my tank. Water will have to push up about 60". Would an M2 be sufficient? I have read a lot of negative reviews for the vectra 1 series....I am hoping this is fixed as I’d like to use The vectra with a battery backup. Should I just stick with the varios8? I can’t decide! For in tank flow I am planning on 2 gyre xf350s at opposite ends of the tank and 2 xf230s on the back wall. Is this enough flow for an sps dominant mixed reef? Eventually I would like to plumb in a 40 or 50 gallon lowboy frag tank but that will be a later addition.

Evening and hope all is well.

Sounds like a great build. I have not run either pump. Maybe someone tonight can give some first hand experience. I will say if you are concerned about negative reviews that may be a deterrent. Also the Vectra I believe has been discontinued. The RO various is usually a solid bet. The Gyer has plenty of flow.

Hopefully someone with this setup will stop by.

Anyone? I could really use some help with figuring out the right flow. Pretty please?
