So i have a softies/leather tank i just started recently, running x2 HOB penguin 350's and i had purchased x2 800gph powerheads, the only powerhead i currently have in it now is roughly 240gph, DO you guys think the 800gph power heads will be too strong with fiji pink sand ? i was worried i would have wasted money on the 525 gph if they werent strong enough.

It might be. You can always take them back if not. Unless your in a country that doesnt allow returns.

I have a Nero power head and it runs on random up to 1250 gph and does not cause any issues with my sand. I do have it higher up on my 75 gallon tank

Lol. Hows the sand though?

i did have some movement, so i moved both 800 gph powerheads more towards the surface and against the front/back of the glass. hopefully if gives the tank a sort of circular motion.

I,m heading to bed atm, but they are the cheap sunsun models, 800gph you get x2 of them for like 40$. Amazon, I'll send pic tomorrow, and rhea are bigger then I thought they would be but very strong imo.

Be easy on my 75 gallon its been up 2 months haha.

The power heads will do a much better job for you if you lower them a bit and then point them up and in toward the surface. You will get great randomized flow and excellent oxygen exchange at the surface that way.

IMHO, you are not even close to too much flow. For a soft coral tank somewhere it the 20-30x range is considered to be a good starting point. Those two puts it at about 21x, with the smaller it's at about 24x
