Light, , parameters, filtration, and flow

I'm sure someone has taken a par meter diving

we know what natural sea water tests at

we know how the ocean filters itself

has anyone ever possibly tested the "GPH" of the friggin ocean ? Just wondering if this would even be possible (would definitely be expensive) and if there is any data on it ?

I find myself buying increasingly larger and larger power heads

There have been plenty of flow measurements on natural reefs. Most studies investigating natural reef flow conditions use an Acoustic doppler velocimeter or ADV. As you can imagine flows vary tremendously depending on where you are on the reef (lagoon vs reef crest vs reef slope), tidal/lunar cycle and sea state. As a general rule of thumb flows are a few cm/s in lagoons and in the 10s of cm/s on the reef crests and fore reefs.
