Hey everyone, I have a few questions if anyone can help.

My current tank is 42" tall and its been tough to properly position powerheads/gyres to keep flow adequate down below without placing something that low but then blasts the fleshy LPS too hard, and if I increase the flow in the top half then even my acros retract their polyps. I have a new display that I am setting up that is slightly shorter measuring 60x36x36 and want to avoid this issue.
Would the pros suggest that I drill it for closed circuit on the bottom and use wave makers top top? Or is there another way to get adequate flow without dead spots in a mixed reef?
Also, I am going to move away from the WAV pumps and I am not a huge fan of the look of Gyre's in the display, I like the size of the Nero's but ecotech has never done me wrong with their other products? If anyone can help with the pros and cons of each or if there is even another suggestion.

Thank you!

I like to avoid drilling if you can. I think you can do a couple MP 40s with MP 10s on back. You can also do Nero 3s for a lower profile or add them on in the future. The right amount of powerheads will eliminate dead spots.
