The sump I have is the Trigger Systems Emerald34. The fuge section in 10.25"x14.5" with water depth ranging from 7"-9". The only things in the sump is gonna be extra rock, some sponge filters for emergency hospital tanks / QT tanks some Chaeto, and maybe 1 or 2 other types of macro. I am gonna try 2 different methods for the Chaeto, the Chaeto Egg Crate Sandwhich which is found in a thread here on R2R and just a ball of Chaeto floating around. I am wanting to see which method will have the chaeto grow faster.

My question is, should I add a powerhead to the fuge section or should I just let what flow there is be enough? If I should add a powerhead what size? I was thinking around 200-300gph like a Hydor Koralia Nano 240.

Thanks

I meant to add the pics in the first post.

If you plan to have a ball of chaeto spin then you may need the power head. If there's enough flow through the sump it may be enough to slowly spin the ball. I would think the chaeto sandwich would be fine without the powerhead. Ive only ever seen the one chaeto sandwich thread and that is really cool. Ive seen several threads using the spinning ball that produce a ton of chaeto. I use half of a x130 gyre in my fuge to keep the macros spinning.

I've been growing macros for about 4-5 years now And in my experience I would say the more flow the better. Without killing the plants the more you can push through them the faster they will grow. This is true for most every macro I've grown
